Stone Columns are enormous pylon like chunks of rock, created from the landscape of Venom and used as barricades by Andross to defend his homeworld during the Lylat Wars. They were equipped with anti-gravity packs, explaining why they levitated.

Appearance[]

Stone Columns are pillars of rock that appear when taking certain paths on the plains of Venom. They will swoop down from the top of the screen and set still in wild directions. The columns are indestructible and only part of Venom's landscapes, so they are not worth any Hit points, only serving as very dangerous hazards.

A barricade of eight rotating, floating pillars and one very large one will block the final path to the temple of Golemech. If all three wing mates are active, they will combine their laser firepower to destroy the large center pillar, if not then the column will remain stationary and likely lead to collision.

Wingmen[]

Your wingmen are blasting one of the columns so they can slip through. You can fit through the columns, but just barely. Fire your lasers as a guide.

History[]

At least 19 columns were located in one of Venom's many canyons, while a barricade of eight and one very large pillar guarded the path to the temple of Golemech. Just after passing the last barricade, Andross hacked into Fox's Communications Channel to offer some discouraging threats.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Stone Columns occasionally appear in the Venom stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee because the stage was based on Venom's appearance in Star Fox 64.
