Radar is a detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects. In some Star Fox games, Radar is a small graphic box of information for viewing on-screen progress, located on the corner of the screen when playing an All-Range Mission. Objects, allies, enemies on the field or the location of the boss will appear on the Radar.
In the games[]
In "Star Fox 64", Radar appears in every instance of All-Range Mode, displayed the bottom right corner of the screen. Objects on the field, any active teammates or the location of the boss will appear on the radar. When on the arena, Falco, Peppy and Slippy are displayed as colored arrows that fly their own randomised flight path around the confined field.
The Star Wolf team's Wolfen appear as black icons on Radar, that cannot identify each pilot individually but does make them stand out from the other enemies.
In "Assault", due to All-Range Mode taking up the majority of Missions in the Main Game, the Radar is a useful assistance for finding the way through the game. The three allies that take part in aiding the Mission objectives, Falco, Krystal and Slippy are colored arrow heads that often stick to their own placements on the area.
When viewing Radar on the lower right corner, surface enemies are yellow circles, airborne enemies are blue triangles and Mission Targets are red circles, that change their size in accord with their current proximity to Fox. Each Mission will have a specific number of primary targets that will need more attention to obliterate. In many Missions, the number of primary targets often depends on which difficulty level when playing. In several missions, strong enemy forces can keep regrowing as the Radar will fill up as foes occupy the area.
Whenever Peppy sends replacement Arwings or Landmasters to the surface, Fox can find them by looking on the Radar in the shape of the exact vehicle.
In Versus Mode matches, Radar show the locations of character opponents, vehicles etc.References[]
