I've recently been contacted by this user who happens to be a sockpuppet of MIDKOWITCH, who is well known for harassing other users in various Fandom sites to try to get them to copy-paste information of characters for Villains Wiki on their behalf (which they could easily do themselves) and at times tries to get the administers on the Heroes Wiki to delete articles that they don't believe are heroes and if they did not get their way, he will resort to yelling at them and coercing them to do as they say. They tend to make excuses to not do it themselves, if asked why they can't do it themselves, they say they aren't 'autoconfirmed', and if they are exposed as a sockpuppet of MIDKOWITCH, they often try to deny it. I figured I'd tell you about this user, in case you haven't known who they are yet. Can you block them?
I made a discussions post about this already, but I thought I would stop by and introduce myself to you as well. I have recently inherited the role of wiki manager for this community (Emptylord previously served in this position, but does not work for Fandom anymore).
Like Emptylord, I am here on behalf of Fandom to support your wiki's community, help it grow and thrive and act as a liaison between you, and full-time staff. If you ever have an issue or question related to this wiki (editing, templates, wiki design, or any other matters related to Fandom policies etc.), please feel free to contact me on my message wall, and I will assist in any way I can. 😀 -Sitb (talk) 11:52, August 3, 2020 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for contacting me. I've been running this Wiki largely by myself for the last eight years, and popularity for Star Fox comes and goes, but I try to keep this Wiki fresh and up to date with accurate information. There is one thing I would like to add which I haven't gotten around to trying as of yet.
Since the name of this Wiki is Arwingpedia, I think the Wiki logo name on the top left header ought to be changed to the proper name, rather than the generic Star Fox logo. I wondered if the Starwing logo from the PAL release of the 1993 game would work, if the ST is removed and the ARWING is joined by PEDIA, that would be a better fit for the Wiki? If that were possible it would be a greater look.
I do have some experience making wiki logos (or wordmarks, as they are also called), so at some point I may be able to look into creating a new one for this wiki, as you describe. However, it may be quite some time before I get the chance to work on something like that. I typically have a couple of projects on the go at any given point and I have to complete the tasks assigned to me by Fandom staff, before moving onto less-urgent, wiki specific things. I have a few partially-complete tasks that I need to continue working on for some other wikis next time I get the chance (some important stuff, like ensuring mobile users can view content properly). But I can add updating this wiki's logo to my list of long-term tasks that I hope to get to.
In the manga Star Fox' Farewell, Beloved Falco, there is a Goras who is known as Golas in the English versions. Is that her real name, or is she really just an unnamed Goras. If the former is true, can I make a page about it?
Golas is a Goras who serves Captain Shears, who deployed her to take the Star Fox Team's genius, Slippy, as a hostage, if you do not know what I mean.
I wouldn't create an entirely new article since the creature is still a Goras, as there was an entire species that existed before Titania's great extinction period, so even if it wasn't the same Goras from Star Fox 64, it might have been recreated from another one's remnants. Also, the manga was never officially translated into English by Nintendo, so the most commonly read version by western readers is the fan translation, which accidentally calls Goras as Golas, probably due to fiddly translation errors. Also, Goras is not female nor was it ever named as such.
Depending on how long they are banned for, users that are blocked on a specific wiki are not allowed to edit any articles, but still read them. They will also be unable to edit their own talk pages or messages if the admin makes that rule apply too, so they couldn’t make conversations on the wiki they are banned on. If an offender somehow manages to take things too far, they may be blocked across the entire fandom.
