Maps are optional, but ideally helpful cartography items in "Star Fox Adventures". In the ThornTail Hollow Store, Maps are pieces of cloth with represented drawings which make out the scale and scope of environments around Dinosaur Planet.
Appearance[]
The maps in the Store all share the same appearance; a tattered, square cloth with a drawing of a canyon with a crescent moon in the sky, and a compass in the lower right corner. Although there are Maps for every location on the planet (with the exception of Ice Mountain), the in-game model all share the same appearance.
Purpose[]
In "Adventures", Peppy Hare's main role is providing navigational directions and area detail for Fox, so after buying a Map from the Store, Peppy will translate the Map's readings and then Fox will be able to use it on his P.D.A map function to locate hidden secrets within his surrounding area. Any previously empty entries on Peppy's World Map readout will also provide details on what environmental features the P.D.A will hint what to search for within the area.
Store prices[]
All the collectable Maps in the game are found for sale in the only store in the game, ThornTail Store. While purchase is not necessary, Maps can provide assistance in directions and finding hidden secrets.

Trivia[]
- Ice Mountain is the only main area on Dinosaur Planet without a Map.
- In the opening cutscene introducing the Great Fox and Star Fox team, Peppy was already working on creating Maps, but he couldn't focus due to the loud music coming from Fox's Jukebox.
