The Kooshy is an aggressive, reclusive race of burrowing, vicious menace dinosaurs native to Cape Claw on Dinosaur Planet.

A Kooshy on Cape Claw.

The Kooshy creatures don't appear to be based on any known dinosaurs, but their frilled necks and spitting attacks are likely inspired by the popular version of Dilophosaurus as depicted in the "Jurassic Park" series, which Chief LightFoot is also somewhat based on. They are very similar to the race known as Snipluk.

KOOSHY - Deadly little pests!

These scaly, long-nailed creatures emerge from the ground, strike at their target, and quickly disappear quickly. They respawn quickly, too.

SnapLak uses claw and bite attacks; SnipLuk and Kooshy have a projectile attack.
—Star Fox Adventures; Prima's Official Strategy Guide, pg 16

Sidestep or block their initial attack and strike back quickly, before they disappear. If they do not get away, be wary; they will strike again.

Lifestyle and Habits

The Kooshy tribe are known to burrow themselves underground, awaiting for any prey to ambush as they pass by, attacking them by shooting energy orbs, similar to Kalda Chom. Their behaviour is identical to the Snipluk and Peeper enemies found across Dinosaur Planet. They have literally no real defenses against Krystal's Staff, (for a single Staff strike will vanquish them) other than diving for cover if they have not been fully beaten, and most drop Staff Energy Gems upon their defeat.

When risen from the ground, they are much smaller than Fox McCloud, yet they remain partially underground which prevents their correct size from view.

This species is difficult to document as they cannot be easily approached without causing the creatures to dive for cover underground combined with their subterranean based lifestyle.
