The legendary pilot of the original Star Fox Team, James McCloud was a talented pilot and a loyal friend. He is survived by his son, Fox McCloud.

Biography

Original star fox team

James McCloud with his best friend Peppy Hare and fellow mercenary Pigma Dengar.

James grew up on Corneria, where he raised his son, Fox. An avid adventurer, James McCloud formed the Star Fox Team, an elite band of mercenaries-for-hire. With his best friend Peppy Hare, and his teammate Pigma Dengar, they travelled the Lylat pursuing jobs and settling minor disputes.

Crisis at Venom

Strange activity was detected in Venomian airspace. Worried of what the danger may be presented to the Lylat, General Pepper of the Corneria Army recruited the Star Fox Team to check out Venom. When they arrived, Pigma betrayed the team, and James was shot down. He dissappeared in Andross's grasp. He didn't return to Corneria.

James's Legacy

Years later, Fox took over the Star Fox Team, with new members and new weapons. During the Lylat Wars, Fox fought Andross in his Venomian base. After his showdown with his true form, Andross self destructed, leaving Fox to die. James's aparation returned, guiding Fox through Andross's base as the destructive flames raged behind him. He led his son to safety, and then seeemed to just dissappear.

Nine years later, during the Anglar Insurrection, James returned again to aid Fox and his team on Venom against the Anglar Emperor.

Behind the Scenes

Until Star Fox 64, James wasn't necessarily known as James McCloud. For example, in a comic published in Nintendo Power, he was referenced as Fox McCloud, Sr..
