Garoas is an recurring enemy in the Star Fox series. It is an hostile marine lifeform native to Aquas. It is unknown whether or not they are a natural species or if they came about as a result of the mutated bioweapons created via the pollution spread by Andross' forces. However, they do give out Hit Points, which makes the latter more likely.
Appearance[]
Garoas are a species of vague crustacean-like lifeforms native to Aquas. It is unknown whether these creatures are sentient or not. The creatures often hide themselves inside their shells that are resilient to laser fire. However, blasting them with torpedoes will force them to expose themselves and attack by hurling energy blasts at whoever is attacking it. Once the wings are open, you can use either torpedoes or lasers to win the battle. You'll earn a Supply Ring from one of the defeated enemies.
Enemy Recon[]
- “The mysterious Garoas hide within their shells until disrupter by torpedo shots from the Blue-Marine, then they spread their wings wide in a dangerous embrace. When the wings are spread, fire a torp and follow it up with laser shots.”
- —Official Nintendo Power Player's Guide, pg 85
Medal Tips[]
- “Shoot, fire torpedoes and barrel roll simultaneously for best results in the seas of Aquas. To make sure you destroy as many enemies as possible, use the brake to hold back and get them all! The underwater canyon just before the final lieutenant is a particularly target rich environment full of shrimp mutants and starfish. Be sure to destroy the huge barnacles on top of Bacoon's shell as these are worth 12 hit points.”

History[]
Normally, the Aquas ocean teems with life but the predations of Andross's forces have done severe damage to the planet's ecosystem. Andross had been using bio-engineering techniques to mutate the sea creatures of Aquas into deadly weapons, ensuring that each mindless bio-tech drone has been conditioned to think only one thought, destroy Star Fox or be destroyed. At least three Garoas were sighted by the Star Fox Team during their expedition to investigate Aquas and destroy Bacoon.
Star Fox 64/3D[]
At least three Garoas were encountered by the Star Fox Team during the Lylat Wars, while on their expedition to investigate planet Aquas for signs of bioweapon activity, destroy Bacoon, and prevent the pollution from spreading even further.
