- “He's got the Spellstone!”
- —Prince Tricky
The Galdon is a boss in the Star Fox series, making his debut appearance in Star Fox Adventures. He is a monstrous bug/dinosaur hybrid, with four legs, two arms, and a stinger. At the base of the skull was a loose collar of flesh that folded over the head and was supported by six bony ribs that extended out beyond the collar itself. The ribs curled around into spikes at the tip. Due to next to nothing being known of his past, it could be possible that Galdon is one of General Scale's genetic experiments, like Drakor.
History[]
The Galdon makes his first appearance when Fox McCloud and Tricky find a warp pad in DarkIce Mines, and teleport to the Galdon's room discover him, frozen in an underground cave with the first SpellStone in-hand. After the duo melt him down with the Fire Command, the aberration wakes up and swallows the SpellStone, challenging them. Just prior to he shattered the ice, however, Tricky noticed and warned Fox that Galdon has the SpellStone.
Fox attacks by using his staff to hit the Galdon on his stinger while Tricky was commanded to stay in order to distract Galdon and draw his fire, but the Galdon, enraged, manages to swallows Fox as well. Once inside him, Fox notices that the Spellstone is held within some sort of membrane, and the latter resorts to whacking the membrane to get the SpellStone. (NOTE: If Fox stays in Galdon's stomach for too long, the stomach acids will kill him.) This action causes Galdon to regurgitate, and once free, Fox notices a weak point in Galdon's chest. After pelting him with the Fire Blaster, Galdon once again swallows Fox. Once inside, McCloud repeatedly beats the membrane, finally releasing the SpellStone. Fox attempts to grab the SpellStone, but before he could grab it, he feels some jolts, causing him to realize to his dismay that he's going to end up violently vomited out yet again.
When the SpellStone is free, the Galdon begins to feel sick and regurgitate. After throwing up Fox, Galdon clutches at his throat, gurgles, and eventually chokes to death. He dies after uttering a low burp.
Trivia[]
- Galdon bears a striking resemblance to the main villain of Men in Black, a giant alien cockroach. Also both are defeated when they eat a character who attacks them from the inside (although in the case of the cockroach, he survives for one last attack before he is finally destroyed).
- The Galdon has the second most number of phases for his battle in Star Fox Adventures, tied with King RedEye for four phases. They are only beaten by Andross, who has five.
Early Development[]
- In a voiced but unfinished scene, Garunda Te claims to be the one that froze Galdon before reconciling with Belina Te. This was not revealed in the final game.
- In addition, Clannad-ack, and Galadon was an early names for Galdon.
- In promotional content, Krystal and Tricky can be seen fighting Galdon in Dinosaur Planet, she was later replaced by Saber in the fight, and was eventually replaced by Fox McCloud for the final version.
