Crystalline Aparoids are type of the Aparoid aerial units that appear in three Missions in "Assault".

Gameplay

Crystalline Aparoids are crystalline ships that sail and swirl into view, forming a tight cluster. Although the ships strangely pose no danger at all, they will continue to swirl together and fill the screen of the flight path, until a certain point of the course is reached. By destroying them all, a Group Bonus will be awarded. If they are all taken out in a single blast, a further Blast Bonus will be awarded.

In the game

Mission 1: Fortuna

Once the Winged Prototype appears, it will spawn small supporting Orbs that attack in it's behalf, while it charges it's laser. If the Orbs are eliminated before the Prototype is downed, waves of Crystalline Ships come into view, for a bonus point chance.

Mission 5: Asteroid Belt

If the Morphing Ship Aparoid is finished off quickly enough, Crystalline Ships appear into view. If the Brakes are applied and successful charge shots are made, up to five waves of Crystalline Ships will appear and up to 10-point Group Bonuses and 10-point Blast Bonuses or possibly more can be earned this way, before reaching the field of Stringy Aparoids.

Mission 10: Homeworld Core

Once again, when the Morphing Ship Aparoid is finished off quickly enough, Crystalline Ships appear into view. As many waves of Crystalline Ships will continue to appear until the next honeycombed force field wall is near.
