Indeed, they are the enemies you faced earlier. I believe it was about 17 years ago, a whole fleet was destroyed by a sole aparoid. We were somehow able to survive that trial...but that was just a taste of what's coming...we are currently analyzing data from the Core Memory you found. But we could understand much more if we had a complete specimen.

Beltino Toad (ベルツィーノ・トード, Berutsīno Tōdo) is the Research Director for the Cornerian Defense Force and also the father of Slippy Toad. Beltino originally worked for Space Dynamics Co. Ltd. as an engineer. Together, father and son developed a prototype submersible known as the Blue Marine. They also worked together to create the Landmaster.

AparoidBackstory

Beltino recalls the atrocity that befell the Cornerian Fleet around 17 years prior to the Aparoid uprising.

Later on in life, Beltino and his team of scientists created the Self-Destruct program that involved apoptosis to deliver a fatal blow to the invading Aparoids. Above the assimilated Corneria, on the Orbital Gate, the Star Fox Team held off the attacking Aparoids and missiles while work finished on the program. The Orbital Gate was then renamed the Beltino Orbital Gate, commemorating his hard work.

Beltino reappears again during the events of Star Fox Command, this time addressed by Fox as Commissioner Beltino Toad. He appears within various paths of the gameplay which concern the terraformer device created by Andross.

Physical apperance and traits

Beltino

Star Fox: Assault concept art.

Beltino, being the father of Slippy, greatly resembles his son in similar manners as Fox and James McCloud. However, Beltino's skin is a darker green than Slippy and he wears glasses like Peppy Hare due to their age. He dresses in similar styles to Peppy, but with a loose green, hexagon buckled necktie. Beltino wears advanced comm link wrist pads like other Cornerians, a common peice of equipment held by them.

Although his age has not yet been specified, Beltino also wears a moustache which indicates his senior age, meaning he could be classified as the same ages as James, Peppy and Pepper or even Andross. It is unknown if he grew up with those characters, for he has not yet interacted with them in any of his appearances, yet in Star Fox Command, he is clearly aware of Andross' great scientific mind and his creations.

Beltino appears to have a good knowledge of science and technology, perhaps equal to both Slippy and even Andross.

Other Info

Beltino Toad is voiced by Hirohiko Kakegawa, and his English voice actor is Scott Burns. The latter also voiced him in a similar manner to Dr. Nick from The Simpsons. He wears glasses like all the fathers of the current Star Fox members, except for Falco and Krystal, whose parents have not yet been identified by Nintendo.
