- “A craft with improved defensive capabilities that come at the cost of reduced speed and slower power-blaster charging.”
- —Official Web Manual
The Armoured Arwing[1] is a larger, slower version of the Arwing used by Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad in Star Fox 2. It shares little resemblance with the actual Arwing. This craft lacked speed, but made up for it with defense. Its default special item is the space relief, which restores shielding.
Appearance[]
The Armoured Arwing looks much bulkier in comparison to the regular Prototype Arwing. Appropriately, it has the greatest resistance of the three Arwings in this game at 20 hit points, comparable to the prototype-model's 16 and especially the 12 of the Light Arwing. The difference may not seem so large, but it could very well be a determining factor.

Trivia[]
- The purpose of the Armoured Arwing is most similar to that of real world Ground Attack and CAS aircraft notably the Russian Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik, Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot, Sukhoi Su-22 Fitter (More of a Strike Aircraft though), and the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27 Flogger-J as well as the American Counter-parts including the Northrop-Grumman YA-9, Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, the Grumman A-6E Intruder, and the Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II. These are notable examples of aircraft similar to the Armoured Arwing with similar design on some.
- The front "beak" of the ship somewhat resembles the Wolfen II cockpit.
- This ship is also controlled by Slippy and Peppy in the early alpha prototype of Star Fox 2. Transforming on land would turn it into an insect-like biped. The three Arwings presented in the early prototype only have cosmetic differences and seem to control the same as any of the others.
- In Star Fox Command, Slippy's ship, the Bullfrog, strongly resembles the Armoured Arwing and shares some similar statistics.
- The ship uses the British spelling of armor instead of the American spelling. The Official Nintendo Website also utilizes the name of this ship as the "Armoured Arwing"[2].
