Andromatter is a form of matter that acts as enemy obstacles in "Star Fox Zero". The name is a combination of Andross and matter, presumably being a play on antimatter.

Description[]

Andromatter can be found in two forms: cube and pillar. Until approached, Andromatter are invisible until Fox flies near enough, after which the Andromatter become visible and gets into position to block the intruder. Andromatter comes in two forms that indicate their behaviour in their visible form. Cubes may just linger in their spot, form walls (often with gaps so Fox can fly his Arwing through them) or charge, while pillars rotate in their spot, forming gates that are vertical or horizontal.

In the game[]

Andromatter first appear within the Mission; Shortcut to Venom, the first stage of Blasting Through, after Fox gets through the Umbra section. Only the cubes appear, forming five walls (the first two being diagonal without gaps but covering only half the play area and the next three covering the whole playing field except with gaps) before a swarm of them charges from ahead.

The Andromatters' next appearance is in the Mission; Corridor of Illusion, ambushing Fox who is heading through the titular corridor to where Doctor Andross makes his lair. Both cubes and pillars appear in different formations. The stage's end features a door comprised of Andromatter cubes, which move out of the way so Fox can make his way through to the final stage of the game, which houses Andross's lair.
